Preparation for the procedure:
Surgical consultation
Laboratory tests
Discontinuation of anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory drugs at least 14 days prior to the procedure (after consultation)
Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 14 days before surgery.
On the day of the procedure – skin hygiene without creams or makeup
The course of the procedure
The procedure is most often performed under local or general anesthesia (depending on the patient's preferences and the scope of the procedure).
The surgeon makes small incisions under the chin, through which he inserts a cannula and suctions out excess fat.
The procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes.
After completion, a dressing or special pressure bandage is applied.
The patient returns home the same day.
Recovery and post-treatment recommendations:
Swelling and bruising usually subside within 2–3 weeks.
Wearing a compression bandage for a minimum of 7–14 days (as recommended by the surgeon)
Limiting physical activity for 2–3 weeks
No sunbathing on the neck for at least 6 months
Avoid strenuous physical activity and bending over for at least 4–6 weeks.
Checkups: after 1 month and subsequent ones as recommended by the doctor
Once healed, scar massage and the use of preparations to improve their appearance may be introduced.
Possible complications and risks:
Hematoma, swelling, bruising
Neck contour irregularities
Damage to sensory nerves (temporary numbness)
Infection
Allergic reaction to anesthesia
Scars at the incision sites (usually minimal and discreet)
