Laboratory tests
Anesthesiology consultation,
Discontinuation of anticoagulant medication 7–10 days prior to surgery
Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 2 weeks before
On the day of the operation: personal hygiene, no creams or lotions
The course of the procedure
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and lasts 2–3 hours.
The surgeon makes incisions along the groin crease and, in more advanced cases, also vertically along the thigh (known as an extended thigh lift).
Loose skin and excess fat tissue are removed.
The wound is sutured in layers, and finally dressings and compression garments are applied.
The patient will remain in the clinic for one night under observation.
Recovery and post-treatment recommendations:
Wearing compression garments for a minimum of 6 weeks
Limiting physical activity for 4–6 weeks
No stretching your thighs or sitting with your legs wide apart during the first few weeks
No sunbathing on scars for at least 6 months
Scars should be massaged and appropriate preparations should be used – as recommended by the surgeon (after 3–4 weeks).
Follow-up visit after 10–14 days (removal of stitches), subsequent visits: after 1, 3, 6, and 12 months
Possible complications and risks:
Hematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
Transient or rarely persistent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
Hypertrophic or discolored scars – minimized thanks to precise suturing techniques
Asymmetry requiring correction
Prolonged swelling or bruising
Unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible reoperation
