Breast Asymmetry Correction
Breast asymmetry correction
- Visible breast asymmetry (size, shape, nipple position)
- Differences in breast gland volume (e.g., after breastfeeding)
- Asymmetry after surgical procedures (e.g., after removal of cysts, nodules)
- Age-related lengthening of the lower part of the face
- Poland syndrome or other congenital defects
- Aesthetic discomfort, difficulty in choosing underwear and clothing
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Unstable body weight (planned weight loss or weight gain)
- Chronic diseases in the uncompensated phase (diabetes, coagulation disorders)
- Active infection or inflammation within the breast
- Unrealistic expectations regarding the effects of the procedure

Preparation for the procedure:
Consultation with a plastic surgeon to determine eligibility, discuss expectations, and plan the procedure
Laboratory tests
Discontinuation of anticoagulants at least 14 days prior to surgery (after consulting a physician)
Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 14 days before the procedure – for better healing.
The course of the procedure
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and usually lasts 2 to 3 hours. The surgical technique is selected on an individual basis:
Enlargement of the smaller breast using an implant
Lifting one or both breasts (mastopexy) to align the position of the nipples
Sometimes we use an implant on one side and a lift on the other, depending on the anatomical situation.
After the surgery, we apply a specialized compression bra and dressing. The patient remains in the clinic for 24 hours.
Recovery and post-treatment recommendations:
In the first few days, pain, swelling, and temporary asymmetry are possible—this is natural and will subside over time.
The post-operative bra should be worn for at least 6 weeks.
Avoid movements that raise your arms, lifting, and exertion for at least 4 weeks.
No sunbathing on scars for at least 6 months
After 4–6 weeks, you can start massaging the scars and using preparations that support healing.
Check-ups: 7 days, 4 weeks, 3 months, 6 and 12 months after the procedure
Possible complications and risks:
Hematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
Transient or rarely persistent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
Hypertrophic or discolored scars – minimized thanks to precise suturing techniques
Asymmetry requiring correction
Prolonged swelling or bruising
Unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible reoperation
At Luna Clinic, we carefully evaluate each patient, and procedures are performed by an experienced surgeon in an operating room setting, which minimizes the risk of complications.
Frequently asked questions
Our patients before the procedure Breast asymmetry correction
The aim of the operation is to even out the breasts as much as anatomy allows – complete symmetry is not always possible, but we achieve natural, harmonious proportions.
Yes – if you are in good health, some procedures can be combined. The decision is made by the surgeon during the planning stage.

No. It is performed under general anesthesia. After the surgery, the patient may experience moderate pain, which we effectively control with medication.
A minimum of 8 weeks – around the clock. After that, the doctor will explain what bras you should wear. For up to a year, it is strictly forbidden to go without a bra.
It depends on the scope of the surgery. In many cases, the ability to breastfeed is preserved, but we discuss each situation individually.
Yes. If the difference is only in volume, we only use an implant on the smaller breast.
Yes, but we perform them in such a way that they are as inconspicuous as possible—around the areola, in the inframammary fold, or vertically under the nipple.
For office work – usually after 5–7 days. For physical work – after 3–4 weeks, following a medical examination.
We assess the full effect after 6 months – when the scars have matured and the tissues have settled. The final effect and full healing can be assessed after 12 months.
