- The desire to visibly rejuvenate one's appearance without an unnatural, stretched effect
- Aesthetic discomfort – feeling self-conscious, avoiding skin exposure

- Active skin infection in the scar area
- Tendency to develop hypertrophic scars or keloids (requires individual assessment)

Preparation for the procedure:
Discontinue anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant medications at least 7 days in advance (after consulting your doctor).
Avoid alcohol and smoking for 48 hours before the procedure.
On the day of the procedure – take care of skin hygiene, do not apply lotions or makeup to the operated area.
The course of the procedure
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 30–60 minutes.
Dr. Łuniewska excises the abnormal scar along with a small margin of healthy skin, and then sutures the tissues in layers, preserving the natural tension and lines of the skin.
The goal is not only to close the wound, but also to achieve a scar that is as thin, symmetrical, and flexible as possible.
A dressing is applied to the wound and the patient returns home on the same day. At the patient's request or in case of doubt, the tissue may be sent for histopathological examination.
Recovery and post-treatment recommendations:
The stitches are usually removed after 7–14 days – the decision is made by the surgeon.
Possible slight swelling or bruising, which disappears within a few days
The scar should be protected from the sun for at least 6 months.
After 3–4 weeks (provided that the wound has healed), we begin massaging the scar and applying specialized preparations, as recommended by the doctor.
Avoid stretching and pulling the operated area for the first 2 weeks.
Mandatory check-up after 4 weeks, then after 3, 6, and 12 months to assess the effect and maturation of the scar.
Possible complications and risks:
Hematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
Transient or rarely persistent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
Hypertrophic or discolored scars – minimized thanks to precise suturing techniques
Asymmetry requiring correction
Prolonged swelling or bruising
Unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible reoperation
