Preparation for the procedure:
Consultation with a plastic surgeon to determine eligibility, discuss expectations, and plan the procedure
Laboratory tests
Discontinuation of anticoagulants at least 14 days prior to surgery (after consulting a physician)
Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 14 days before the procedure – for better healing.
Thorough facial skin hygiene on the day of the procedure (no makeup, creams, lotions)
The course of the procedure
Neck plastic surgery is performed under general or local anesthesia.
The surgeon makes incisions behind the ears and possibly under the chin to remove excess skin, tighten the platysma muscle, and possibly remove or reposition fatty tissue.
The procedure lasts approximately 1.5–2.5 hours.
In most cases, the patient leaves the clinic on the same day or stays for one night for observation.
Recovery and post-treatment recommendations:
Swelling and bruising usually last 2–3 weeks.
Wearing a bandage or gentle compression bandage for approx. 1–2 weeks
Avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 4 weeks.
No sunbathing on the neck for at least 6 months
Use preparations that support scar healing in accordance with your doctor's recommendations.
Check-ups: approximately 1 month after the procedure, then after 3, 6, and 12 months
Possible complications and risks:
Hematoma or bleeding requiring drainage
Infection requiring antibiotic therapy
Transient or rarely persistent sensory disturbances in the face or auricle
Hypertrophic or discolored scars – minimized thanks to precise suturing techniques
Asymmetry requiring correction
Prolonged swelling or bruising
Unsatisfactory aesthetic result requiring possible reoperation
